Draft Grade — Browns

FutureA+
The Browns robbed the room for Haulcy. Final grade: B. Every so often the board makes a mistake, and the Browns were there to profit. A.J. Haulcy, the No. 51 name on the board, should have been long gone before the 86th pick. They moved the roster forward and banked a B for it.
The dealing is the wound this class cannot quite close. Leaving edge rusher unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall.
Nothing here to lose sleep over, and plenty to feel decent about.
Pick Analysis
Pick24
Rnd1
Denzel Boston
In Round 1, Pick 24 they get a weapon on the perimeter at fair value. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
Pick39
Rnd2
Dontay Corleone
A tidy bit of business in pick No. 39, where Dontay Corleone graded well above the range. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick47
Rnd2
Emmanuel Pregnon
They stopped a slide they were happy to see, landing Emmanuel Pregnon in pick 47. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick70
Rnd3
Jake Slaughter
You do not let an offensive lineman like Jake Slaughter reach the 70th pick and blink. They did not. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick86
Rnd3
A.J. Haulcy
Somehow A.J. Haulcy was still sitting there in the Round 3 slot, and they pounced on premier safety value. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick113
Rnd4
Deion Burks
They read the board right and Deion Burks was the payoff at the 113th overall pick. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick114
Rnd4
Jaeden Roberts
Jaeden Roberts in No. 114 is fair value, right on his grade. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick139
Rnd5
Trinidad Chambliss
Circle this one: Trinidad Chambliss at slot 139 is a fall that decides a draft. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick144
Rnd5
Domani Jackson
Domani Jackson in the 144th pick is fine work, a shade of surplus and no downside. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick185
Rnd6
Oscar Delp
Oscar Delp slipping to the 185th overall pick is the kind of luck good rooms make for themselves. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick204
Rnd6
Bryce Foster
They paid sticker price for Bryce Foster in pick 204, and that is fine. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick216
Rnd6
Isaac Smith
No edge and no loss on Isaac Smith in pick No. 216; it is a wash and a sensible one. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick231
Rnd7
Ethan O'Connor
A tidy little value on Ethan O'Connor in Round 7, Pick 15, a step better than break-even. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick248
Rnd7
Alex Harkey
Alex Harkey at the Round 7 slot is right where the board had him, plain and simple. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick253
Rnd7
Rueben Owens II
They let Rueben Owens II come to them and pounced at slot 253. The roster fit checks out.
