The Bears finally solved quarterback, and it carried them to a D-.

It is the swing that defines the weekend: Drake Nugent in pick No. 110, a good 38 spots before the room expected him. The math is unkind, and the D- follows.

The trades bled value they could not afford to lose. Everything downstream of Caleb Williams depends on Caleb Williams, and the building knows it.

The interior defensive lineman hole is the one line item this class does not answer. Getting Lloyd where they did is the sort of value that quietly makes a class.

Add it up and it is a weekend the front office will hope everyone forgets, interior defensive lineman very much included.

Pick Analysis
Pick1 Rnd1 Caleb Williams
In the 1st pick they get a long-term answer under center. A real need, handled.
Pick9 Rnd1 Rome Odunze
In pick 9 they get a go-to option on the outside at fair value. A clean fit for the roster.
Pick43 Rnd2 Graham Barton
A slide stopped in pick No. 43, with Graham Barton worth more than the price. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick74 Rnd3 Gabriel Murphy
A reach on Gabriel Murphy in Round 3, Pick 10; the board had better options right there. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick75 Rnd3 Javon Bullard
Javon Bullard in the 75th overall pick is a bargain the rest of the room will envy. A minor need, but a need all the same.
Pick110 Rnd4 Drake Nugent
Drake Nugent at slot 110 is a steep price for a hunch, hard to square with any board. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick122 Rnd4 DJ James
Value with a capital V on DJ James in pick 122, a genuine coup. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick146 Rnd5 MarShawn Lloyd
They stopped a slide they were happy to see, landing MarShawn Lloyd in No. 146. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
