The tape said wait; the Bears did not. Trey Knox went at Round 5, Pick 7, a good 45 picks before the board was ready. It grades a D, and the process earned it.

They lost the exchange badly enough to drag the whole class down. The whole projection now runs through Caleb Williams; hit there and everything else looks smarter. They will regret leaving edge rusher for another day if the season turns on it.

Newton at that cost is the sort of edge that compounds over a roster.

Add it up and it is a weekend the front office will hope everyone forgets, edge rusher very much included.
