The board owed the Seahawks one, and it paid up: Jordan James, the No. 116 name on the board, sitting there at No. 172 like a gift left on the doorstep. Call it a sensible B-, earned the boring way.

The Caldwell pick is the one the value grade keeps tripping over. Leaving edge rusher unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall.

All told, a draft that does its job without fuss, and there is real value in that.
