Draft Grade — Jets
Overall
B
ValueB
NeedB
TradesB-
FutureB-
Larceny in Round 6, Pick 31 lands the Jets a B, Strong and all. You could see the war room lean forward. Dorian Strong at slot 207 is the sort of fall that does not happen, except it just did. More right than wrong, and a B to match.
The Stackhouse pick is the one the value grade keeps tripping over. They punted on quarterback, and it is the miss that keeps the grade honest. Job largely done: cornerback settled and 5 of 8 of the wish list covered.
Building through the lines is a philosophy, and they stuck to it.
All told, a draft that does its job without fuss, and there is real value in that.
Pick Analysis
Pick7
Rnd1
Mason Graham
In No. 7 they get a load in the middle at fair value. A real need, handled.
Pick42
Rnd2
Tetairoa McMillan
A wide receiver of that caliber at the 42nd overall pick is the definition of value, full stop. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick73
Rnd3
Chris Paul Jr.
A reach on Chris Paul Jr. in Round 3, Pick 9; the board had better options right there. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
Pick110
Rnd4
Terrance Ferguson
By-the-book stuff, Terrance Ferguson at pick No. 110 squarely in line with his ranking. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
Pick145
Rnd5
Nazir Stackhouse
A real head-scratcher, Nazir Stackhouse in pick 145 is miles ahead of his ranking. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick162
Rnd5
Connor Colby
Connor Colby at the 162nd pick is the kind of overdraft that needs everything to break right. It fills a real need, too.
Pick186
Rnd6
LeQuint Allen
They barely believed it either: LeQuint Allen still on the board at slot 186. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick207
Rnd6
Dorian Strong
Dorian Strong in the Round 6 slot is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
