Larceny in the 232nd pick lands the Colts a B-, Sanders and all. You could see the war room lean forward. Raheim Sanders at the Round 7 slot is the sort of fall that does not happen, except it just did. Nothing here to lose sleep over; call it a B-.
Every board in the league had Gray lower, and that gap is the story. Leaving wide receiver unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall.
A workmanlike haul that should hold up just fine.
Pick Analysis
Pick14
Rnd1
Grey Zabel
In the 14th overall pick they get an anchor for the offensive line, a steep price for the projection. A clean fit for the roster.
Pick45
Rnd2
T.J. Sanders
Good price on T.J. Sanders in the Round 2 slot, a hair ahead of his grade with no real quibbles. The roster fit checks out.
Pick80
Rnd3
Kevin Winston Jr.
Kevin Winston Jr. in slot 80 is a reach so steep the board needed a second look to believe it. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
Pick117
Rnd4
Seth McLaughlin
Seth McLaughlin at pick 117 is the kind of overdraft that needs everything to break right. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick151
Rnd5
Joshua Gray
A wild overpay on Joshua Gray in the 151st pick, the sort that defines a class for the wrong reasons. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick189
Rnd6
Mitchell Evans
Mitchell Evans in Round 6, Pick 13 is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick232
Rnd7
Raheim Sanders
Taking Raheim Sanders in pick No. 232 is close to grand larceny; a running back that good had no business lasting this long. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
