Draft Grade — Raiders
Overall B
ValueB NeedB+ TradesB- FutureB-
The Raiders found their guy under center in Mendoza: B.

Somebody in the 174th pick was going to get robbed, and it turned out to be the rest of the league. The Raiders sat still while Kayden McDonald, the No. 25 name on the board, slid all the way to them, then sprinted to the podium. Good, not great, and the B says as much.

They have staked the next five years on Fernando Mendoza, which is the only story that really matters here. Hemby has a lot of ground to make up just to look fairly priced.

That cornerback hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall.

Nothing here to lose sleep over, and plenty to feel decent about.

Pick Analysis
Pick1 Rnd1 Fernando Mendoza
In pick 1 they get their quarterback of the future. A clean fit for the roster.
Pick36 Rnd2 Elijah Sarratt
Elijah Sarratt in the 36th overall pick is fair value, right on his grade. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick67 Rnd3 David Bailey
David Bailey at Round 3, Pick 3 is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick102 Rnd4 Carnell Tate
A top-tier wide receiver at a bargain, Carnell Tate in No. 102, plain and simple. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick117 Rnd4 Kenyon Sadiq
Kenyon Sadiq in the 117th overall pick should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick134 Rnd4 Cashius Howell
You do not let an edge rusher like Cashius Howell reach pick 134 and blink. They did not. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick174 Rnd5 Kayden McDonald
Taking Kayden McDonald in slot 174 is close to grand larceny; an interior defensive lineman that good had no business lasting this long. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick180 Rnd6 Jake Slaughter
Somehow Jake Slaughter was still sitting there in pick No. 180, and they pounced on premier offensive lineman value. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick183 Rnd6 Diego Pavia
They robbed the room for Diego Pavia here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick219 Rnd7 Roman Hemby
Roman Hemby in the Round 7 slot is a bet on their own eyes over everyone else's grade. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
