Draft Grade — Colts

Grand theft in pick 79: the Colts steal Walker and grade out a B. Somebody in the 79th overall pick was going to get robbed, and it turned out to be the rest of the league. The Colts sat still while Jalon Walker, the No. 25 name on the board, slid all the way to them, then sprinted to the podium. A sturdy weekend that grades out a B.
A whole weekend of picks and wide receiver is somehow still a want. The roster is better shaped than it was, with running back chief among the fixes.
A competent weekend that does not make headlines and does not need to.
Pick Analysis
Pick12
Rnd1
Will Johnson
In the 12th pick they get an island corner. Need was not the driver here.
Pick43
Rnd2
Ashton Jeanty
They barely believed it either: Ashton Jeanty still on the board at Round 2, Pick 11. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick79
Rnd3
Jalon Walker
Jalon Walker in the 79th overall pick should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick115
Rnd4
Malachi Moore
You do not let a safety like Malachi Moore reach No. 115 and blink. They did not. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
Pick149
Rnd5
Jake Majors
Somehow Jake Majors was still sitting there in pick 149, and they pounced on premier offensive lineman value. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick187
Rnd6
Elijah Arroyo
Elijah Arroyo in pick No. 187 is fair value, right on his grade. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick227
Rnd7
Jack Kiser
The board fumbled Jack Kiser all the way to the Round 7 slot, and they scooped it up. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
