Tackle Ted DRAFTING FOR THE49ers
Draft Selections
Draft Grade — 49ers
Overall

FutureB-
More right than wrong for the 49ers, and a B- to prove it. Somewhere a scout is still blinking. The 49ers spent the 89th overall pick on Monroe Freeling, a name the board had a full 33 spots lower. A sturdy weekend that grades out a B-.
They will answer for taking cornerback early while wide receiver, running back and other spots went begging. They punted on wide receiver, and it is the miss that keeps the grade honest.
Good work on the whole, with wide receiver the one box left unchecked.
Pick Analysis
Pick25
Rnd1
Avieon Terrell
In pick No. 25 they get a sticky cover corner. More want than need.
Pick57
Rnd2
Brian Parker II
Value said wait; Brian Parker II in No. 57 says they were not listening. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick89
Rnd3
Monroe Freeling
They reached a country mile for Monroe Freeling at slot 89, and the board is aghast. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick125
Rnd4
D'Angelo Ponds
A curious use of pick 125. Wide receiver, running back and other spots needed the pick; a cornerback in D'Angelo Ponds did not.
Pick133
Rnd4
Iapani Laloulu
They reached into another round for Iapani Laloulu, and the board is nowhere close to agreeing. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick139
Rnd4
Jacob Rodriguez
Jacob Rodriguez at the 139th pick is a steep price for a hunch, hard to square with any board. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick172
Rnd5
Zane Durant
A reach on Zane Durant in the Round 5 slot; the board had better options right there. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
