The Cowboys did not so much draft Cooper Mays as overpay for him, 92 picks clear of his grade. It sets an uneasy tone for the weekend. The bottom line is a respectable B-.

They punted on cornerback, and it is the miss that keeps the grade honest. Hunter at that cost is the sort of edge that compounds over a roster.

The trade work was a quiet net positive. Job largely done: wide receiver settled and 6 of 8 of the wish list covered.

All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but cornerback.
