Draft Grade — Chiefs
Overall D
ValueB NeedB TradesF FutureB-
The Chiefs won the night they stopped Thieneman from sliding. Grade: D.

The trade table was where it all came apart. The Chiefs shipped out far more than they hauled back, and no amount of spin dresses up the bill.

For all the activity, quarterback went untouched, which is hard to explain. On value alone, Thieneman makes the weekend a net positive.

On the needs board they went 5 of 8, with wide receiver the one that mattered most. They chose more darts over a bigger single swing.

It is a steep hill from here, and the grade knows it.

Pick Analysis
Pick9 Rnd1 Carnell Tate
In pick No. 9 they get a home-run threat at receiver at fair value. The biggest hole, addressed.
Pick21 Rnd1 Mansoor Delane
In the Round 1 slot they get a lockdown presence outside at a price that makes it sweeter. More want than need.
Pick40 Rnd2 Sonny Styles
Sonny Styles at the 40th overall pick is a sensible buy, a touch better than market for the linebacker. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick74 Rnd3 Dillon Thieneman
Dillon Thieneman at slot 74 is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. A minor itch, scratched.
Pick109 Rnd4 Zachariah Branch
They paid sticker price for Zachariah Branch in Round 4, Pick 9, and that is fine. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick121 Rnd4 Michael Trigg
Michael Trigg in No. 121 is fair value, right on his grade. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick147 Rnd5 David Oke
David Oke at pick 147 is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick177 Rnd5 Earnest Greene III
A clean, defensible pick in No. 177 with a little surplus value in Earnest Greene III. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
