Draft Grade — Rams
Overall B
ValueB NeedB TradesB- FutureB-
Best value of the weekend goes to the Rams for Smith: B.

Thirty-one other rooms let Tykee Smith slide, and the Rams were the ones holding the card at the 196th overall pick. Highway robbery. Solid and sensible more than spectacular: a B.

They will need Jefferson to outplay his draft slot in a hurry to justify it. Spending an early pick on cornerback with quarterback, tight end and other spots open is the decision the grade keeps circling back to. For all the activity, quarterback went untouched, which is hard to explain.

A tidy weekend of work that should hold up just fine.

Pick Analysis
Pick19 Rnd1 Rome Odunze
In pick No. 19 they get a go-to option on the outside, outstanding value to boot. Exactly the need they had to hit.
Pick52 Rnd2 Ennis Rakestraw Jr.
Quietly one of the better values of the day, Ennis Rakestraw Jr. at the 52nd pick. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
Pick83 Rnd3 Max Melton
The needs board was loud and they turned it down, spending the 83rd overall pick on Max Melton with quarterback, tight end and other spots unsolved.
Pick99 Rnd3 Braelon Allen
A market-rate running back, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Braelon Allen. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick154 Rnd5 Marist Liufau
They paid up for Marist Liufau at slot 154 when waiting would have done the job. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
Pick155 Rnd5 Jordan Jefferson
A real head-scratcher, Jordan Jefferson in the Round 5 slot is miles ahead of his ranking. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick196 Rnd6 Tykee Smith
Tykee Smith in No. 196 is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick209 Rnd6 Julian Pearl
Julian Pearl in Round 6, Pick 34 lands just on the right side of the ledger. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick213 Rnd6 Jaylan Ford
Nice patience on Jaylan Ford, who had no business lasting to pick 213. Pure best-available; the position was not exactly begging.
Pick217 Rnd6 Nathaniel Watson
Nathaniel Watson at the Round 6 slot is a sound buy, the sort that quietly helps a class. Nice player, but the depth chart did not need him here.
Pick254 Rnd7 Kalen DeLoach
Nothing to complain about; Kalen DeLoach went a shade earlier than his grade, which is fine. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
