You can fall in love with a player. You are not supposed to marry him in the wrong round. The Jets did exactly that with Jackson Hawes in pick 162.

They will regret leaving cornerback for another day if the season turns on it. They banked enough surplus on Jackson to cover a lot of smaller sins.

The trade work was a quiet net positive. Job largely done: quarterback settled and 5 of 8 of the wish list covered.

Bottom line, more hits than misses and a roster nudged the right way.
