Draft Grade — Steelers
Overall B
ValueB NeedB+ TradesB- FutureB-
The Steelers robbed the room for Reid. Final grade: B.

Every so often the board makes a mistake, and the Steelers were there to profit. Karene Reid, the No. 108 name on the board, should have been long gone before Round 5, Pick 25. Nothing here to lose sleep over; call it a B.

If this class has a fault line, it runs straight through interior defensive lineman. The cost of the Williams reach is exactly the players who went right after him. They went 7 of 9 on their needs, which is most of what a draft is for.

Nearly every premium pick went to that side of the ball.

In short, they left a little better than they arrived, which is the whole idea.

Pick Analysis
Pick27 Rnd1 Mykel Williams
In Round 1, Pick 27 they get a bendy edge with upside, though they paid up to get him. Exactly the need they had to hit.
Pick58 Rnd2 Jalen Milroe
Somehow Jalen Milroe was still sitting there in pick No. 58, and they pounced on premier quarterback value. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick89 Rnd3 Rod Moore
The board fumbled Rod Moore all the way to the 89th overall pick, and they scooped it up. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick129 Rnd4 Tacario Davis
Tacario Davis in pick 129 is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick141 Rnd5 Cobee Bryant
Cobee Bryant in the 141st pick is exactly on the number, no argument either way. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick163 Rnd5 Karene Reid
Steal is underselling it; Karene Reid at No. 163 is a heist with the alarm still ringing. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick229 Rnd7 De'Corian Clark
A wide receiver of that caliber at slot 229 is the definition of value, full stop. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick235 Rnd7 Kyren Lacy
You do not let a wide receiver like Kyren Lacy reach the Round 7 slot and blink. They did not. It fills a real need, too.
Pick241 Rnd7 Corey Kiner
They went early on Corey Kiner in the 241st overall pick, and the value did not follow. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
