Draft Grade — Patriots
Overall B
ValueC+ NeedB TradesA+ FutureB-
The Patriots fleeced the room on the phones and earned a B.

Call it a hunch or call it a gamble, but the Patriots spent Round 7, Pick 4 on Hayden Conner, a name most had 47 spots down the list. Nothing here to lose sleep over; call it a B.

The phones were where this weekend was really won. That wide receiver hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall.

In sum, a sturdy weekend with one asterisk, the wide receiver spot they never got to.

Pick Analysis
Pick14 Rnd1 Josh Simmons
In No. 14 they get a blindside protector. A real need, handled.
Pick23 Rnd1 Princely Umanmielen
In the Round 1 slot they get a quarterback's worst nightmare, reach and all. Exactly the need they had to hit.
Pick45 Rnd2 Jihaad Campbell
Jihaad Campbell in slot 45 lands just on the right side of the ledger. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
Pick54 Rnd2 Azareye'h Thomas
Azareye'h Thomas at pick No. 54 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
Pick69 Rnd3 Quinshon Judkins
A tidy little value on Quinshon Judkins in the 69th pick, a step better than break-even. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick106 Rnd4 Joshua Farmer
Joshua Farmer in the 106th overall pick is early enough to raise a brow, if not a full objection. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick144 Rnd5 Malachi Moore
Nothing to complain about; Malachi Moore went a shade earlier than his grade, which is fine. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick217 Rnd7 CJ Dippre
They left a pile of value on the table to take CJ Dippre this early at Round 7, Pick 1. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick220 Rnd7 Hayden Conner
Hayden Conner in slot 220 is a bet on their own eyes over everyone else's grade. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick238 Rnd7 Zeek Biggers
They liked Zeek Biggers enough to skip the value, taking him in pick 238. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
