There is conviction, and then there is this. The 49ers took Khristian Boyd a full 47 picks ahead of where the board had him, an overdraft steep enough that it colors the whole weekend. It lands right in the middle: a C+, no more, no less.

They will regret leaving quarterback for another day if the season turns on it. Job largely done: offensive lineman settled and 5 of 8 of the wish list covered.

Building through the lines is a philosophy, and they stuck to it.
