Draft Grade — Seahawks
Overall

FutureB-
The Seahawks did the meat-and-potatoes work well: B-. You can hear the double-takes from here. The Seahawks took Seth McLaughlin at Round 4, Pick 35, roughly 34 spots before his name belonged. Solid and sensible more than spectacular: a B-.
The edge rusher spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at. However the rest shakes out, Hampton at that price is a win they earned.
In sum, a sturdy weekend with one asterisk, the edge rusher spot they never got to.
Pick Analysis
Pick18
Rnd1
Walter Nolen
In Round 1, Pick 18 they get a run-stuffing presence up front. A real need, handled.
Pick50
Rnd2
Omarion Hampton
Omarion Hampton at pick 50 is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick52
Rnd2
Jaxson Dart
Value with a capital V on Jaxson Dart in the 52nd overall pick, a genuine coup. The roster fit checks out.
Pick82
Rnd3
Gunnar Helm
Gunnar Helm in the 82nd pick is fair value, right on his grade. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick92
Rnd3
Smael Mondon Jr.
A wild overpay on Smael Mondon Jr. in the Round 3 slot, the sort that defines a class for the wrong reasons. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick137
Rnd4
Seth McLaughlin
Value said wait; Seth McLaughlin in slot 137 says they were not listening. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick172
Rnd5
Vernon Broughton
A premium they did not need to pay, Vernon Broughton a notch or two before his time. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick175
Rnd5
Jalen Rivers
Jalen Rivers is a better player than the 175th pick suggests; smart patience, rewarded. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick223
Rnd7
Kobe Hudson
A market-rate wide receiver, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Kobe Hudson. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick234
Rnd7
Jeremy Crawshaw
Jeremy Crawshaw at No. 234 is the kind of overdraft that needs everything to break right. A want more than a need, though you can never have too many.
