Draft Grade — Falcons
Overall
B-
ValueB-
NeedB
TradesB-
FutureB-
The Falcons robbed the room for Monangai. Final grade: B-. Call it larceny. Kyle Monangai sat on the board until the Round 7 slot, and the Falcons did not need to be asked twice. They moved the roster forward and banked a B- for it.
If this class has a fault line, it runs straight through quarterback. Reaching for White III left real value on the table behind him.
Offensive lineman is handled and the depth chart looks a good deal healthier for it.
Bottom line, more hits than misses and a roster nudged the right way.
Pick Analysis
Pick15
Rnd1
James Pearce Jr.
In the Round 1 slot they get a quarterback's worst nightmare. A real need, handled.
Pick46
Rnd2
Marcus Mbow
They took Marcus Mbow at par in pick No. 46, which is nothing to complain about. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick118
Rnd4
Lathan Ransom
Lathan Ransom is a better player than Round 4, Pick 16 suggests; smart patience, rewarded. It adds depth where they could use a little.
Pick218
Rnd7
Ricky White III
A reach for Ricky White III in No. 218; a little patience would have been rewarded. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick242
Rnd7
Kyle Monangai
Kyle Monangai in the 242nd pick should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. A need, and now a little less of one.
