Draft Grade — Commanders
Overall

FutureB-
A mixed bag for the Commanders, and a C+ to match. Boards are made to be trusted, and the Commanders shredded theirs for Jared Ivey. He came off 50 spots early, and the room will hear about it. Call it a C+ and check back in two years.
If one pick saves this weekend, it is Johnson. They covered a lot of ground and still skipped tight end, which is a strange place to end up.
Wide receiver was the priority and it is no longer a question, which is most of the job. The trenches got the money picks, top to bottom.
It grades out a shrug today, with plenty of room to move either way.
Pick Analysis
Pick29
Rnd1
Jared Ivey
In the 29th overall pick they get a quarterback's worst nightmare, though the board says they badly overpaid. A clean fit for the roster.
Pick61
Rnd2
Charles Grant
This one needs a full-page explanation: Charles Grant in pick 61, miles early. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick128
Rnd4
Tez Johnson
Tez Johnson in No. 128 should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick205
Rnd6
Jay Toia
They took Jay Toia at par in Round 6, Pick 29, which is nothing to complain about. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick245
Rnd7
Jamon Dumas-Johnson
Jamon Dumas-Johnson in the 245th pick is early enough to raise a brow, if not a full objection. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
