Ethan DRAFTING FOR THEGiants

Draft Grade — Giants
Overall
B+
ValueB

FutureB
Quarterback settled, Beck in the fold, and a B+ for the Giants. The one hole that towered over the rest is filled. The Giants spent their marquee pick on Carson Beck, and for the first time in a while there is a real answer at quarterback.
They robbed the room blind at the table, and it lifts the grade on its own. The Burke pick alone nudges the whole weekend up a notch. They are betting Campbell proves the room right and everyone else wrong.
Adding Tykee Smith by trade rounds out the weekend beyond the rookies.
In sum, a sensible class that nudges the roster the right way.
Pick Analysis
Pick13
Rnd1
Carson Beck
In the Round 1 slot they get a long-term answer under center at fair value.
Pick38
Rnd2
Denzel Burke
Value with a capital V on Denzel Burke in pick No. 38, a genuine coup. It fills a real need, too.
Pick45
Rnd2
Howard Cross III
A market-rate interior defensive lineman, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Howard Cross III. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick70
Rnd3
Josh Simmons
A tidy little value on Josh Simmons in slot 70, a step better than break-even. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick102
Rnd4
Oronde Gadsden II
By-the-book stuff, Oronde Gadsden II at the 102nd overall pick squarely in line with his ranking. The roster fit checks out.
Pick103
Rnd4
Donovan Edwards
Donovan Edwards at No. 103 is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick141
Rnd5
Andrew Mukuba
They liked Andrew Mukuba enough to skip the value, taking him in Round 5, Pick 13. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick166
Rnd6
DJ Campbell
A reach for DJ Campbell in the 166th pick; a little patience would have been rewarded. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick198
Rnd7
Steve Linton
A premium they did not need to pay, Steve Linton a notch or two before his time. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick219
Rnd7
Moose Muhammad III
No drama and no debate, Moose Muhammad III went about where he belonged in pick 219. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
