Larceny in Round 3, Pick 35 lands the Steelers a B, Booker and all. The board owed the Steelers one, and it paid up: Austin Booker, the No. 77 name on the board, sitting there at the Round 3 slot like a gift left on the doorstep. No fireworks, but a solid B.
A whole weekend of picks and quarterback is somehow still a want. They went 3 of 9 on their needs, which is most of what a draft is for. Ryan Neuzil gives the group a proven body among the projects.
They reloaded the coverage unit in bulk.
All told, a draft that does its job without fuss, and there is real value in that.
Pick Analysis
Pick20
Rnd1
Quinyon Mitchell
In Round 1, Pick 20 they get a potential shutdown corner. A clean fit for the roster.
Pick51
Rnd2
Xavier Worthy
They took Xavier Worthy at par in No. 51, which is nothing to complain about. It fills a real need, too.
Pick98
Rnd3
Austin Booker
Austin Booker at the 98th pick is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick109
Rnd4
Gabriel Murphy
A tidy bit of business in pick No. 109, where Gabriel Murphy graded well above the range. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick119
Rnd4
Matt Goncalves
Good price on Matt Goncalves in slot 119, a hair ahead of his grade with no real quibbles. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
