De DRAFTING FOR THEBrowns

Draft Grade — Browns

FutureC
The Browns bled value on every deal, hence the C-. The Browns looked at the value chart, folded it up, and took Dillon Gabriel at slot 94 regardless, 37 picks early. The good and the questionable cancel out to a C-.
The trade table is where this weekend went wrong. They banked enough surplus on Hairston to cover a lot of smaller sins. Leaving interior defensive lineman unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall.
Bottom line, the swing picks will decide whether this ages well.
Pick Analysis
Pick15
Rnd1
Tetairoa McMillan
In slot 15 they get a go-to option on the outside. The biggest hole, addressed.
Pick33
Rnd2
Cameron Williams
Cameron Williams in the Round 2 slot is fair value, right on his grade. It fills a real need, too.
Pick46
Rnd2
Omarion Hampton
Quietly one of the better values of the day, Omarion Hampton at the 46th overall pick. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick67
Rnd3
Jordan Burch
A swing that ignored the value entirely, Jordan Burch well ahead of where he belonged. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick94
Rnd3
Dillon Gabriel
A real head-scratcher, Dillon Gabriel in Round 3, Pick 30 is miles ahead of his ranking. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick103
Rnd4
Maxwell Hairston
Maxwell Hairston in pick No. 103 is a gift, value that borders on unfair. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick165
Rnd5
Roc Taylor
This one needs a full-page explanation: Roc Taylor in Round 5, Pick 26, miles early. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
