FutureA
The Buccaneers did the meat-and-potatoes work well: B-. The rest of the league had time to spare on Vincent Anthony Jr.; the Buccaneers did not wait, grabbing him 75 spots ahead at Round 5, Pick 15.
However the rest shakes out, Jones at that price is a win they earned. The interior defensive lineman spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at.
They were the ones paying the moving tax this weekend. On the needs board they went 5 of 8, with offensive lineman the one that mattered most.
Add it up and it is a good, unfussy class.
Pick Analysis
Pick31
Rnd1
Sonny Styles
Quietly one of the better values of the day, Sonny Styles at the 31st overall pick. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
Pick46
Rnd2
Denzel Boston
A tidy bit of business in the 46th pick, where Denzel Boston graded well above the range. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick77
Rnd3
Jake Golday
Jake Golday at No. 77 is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick116
Rnd4
Logan Jones
Taking Logan Jones in pick 116 is close to grand larceny; an offensive lineman that good had no business lasting this long. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick131
Rnd4
Nadame Tucker
The board screamed and they did not listen, reaching into the next round for Nadame Tucker. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick155
Rnd5
Vincent Anthony Jr.
They reached a country mile for Vincent Anthony Jr. at slot 155, and the board is aghast. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick195
Rnd6
Dae'Quan Wright
The board had Dae'Quan Wright higher than slot 195, and the tight end fell to them anyway. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick229
Rnd7
TJ Hall
A tidy little value on TJ Hall in No. 229, a step better than break-even. The roster fit checks out.
