FutureB-
Nothing loud, just a tidy B- for the Chiefs. The rest of the league will want that one back. Demetrius Knight Jr. tumbling to the Chiefs in the Round 3 slot is a gift they did not have to think twice about. Good, not great, and the B- says as much.
The cost of the Ratledge reach is exactly the players who went right after him. The Watts pick reads as want over need, and the roster will feel it at wide receiver, quarterback and other spots.
The wide receiver spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at. On the needs board they went 3 of 8, with tight end the one that mattered most.
Good work on the whole, with wide receiver the one box left unchecked.
Pick Analysis
Pick32
Rnd1
Tate Ratledge
In No. 32 they get protection for the quarterback, though the board says they badly overpaid. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
Pick64
Rnd2
Andrew Mukuba
Andrew Mukuba at the 64th pick is right where the board had him, plain and simple. A minor itch, scratched.
Pick66
Rnd3
Xavier Watts
Of all the spots to shop, they chose safety. Xavier Watts in Round 3, Pick 2 leaves wide receiver, quarterback and other spots for later.
Pick96
Rnd3
Demetrius Knight Jr.
Circle this one: Demetrius Knight Jr. at pick 96 is a fall that decides a draft. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick132
Rnd4
Mason Taylor
The board fumbled Mason Taylor all the way to No. 132, and they scooped it up. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
