Draft Grade — Texans
Overall F
ValueB NeedB TradesF FutureD
The Texans let Singleton fall and pounced. Final grade: F.

The best pick of the weekend was also the simplest. The Texans watched Nicholas Singleton slide 135 picks past his grade and did not hesitate. A weekend to file away and forget, and an F to match.

Reaching for McCord left real value on the table behind him. The trade table is where this weekend went wrong.

Spend now, pay later; the math only works if this class delivers. The Texans clearly valued win-now help, adding bodies who have done it before.

There is no soft landing here; this class has to massively overperform just to matter.

Pick Analysis
Pick19 Rnd1 Tetairoa McMillan
In No. 19 they get a home-run threat at receiver, outstanding value to boot. The biggest hole, addressed.
Pick22 Rnd1 Jahdae Barron
In the 22nd overall pick they get a sticky cover corner at a price that makes it sweeter. More want than need.
Pick38 Rnd2 Nick Emmanwori
Nick Emmanwori at slot 38 is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. It adds depth where they could use a little.
Pick53 Rnd2 Tyler Warren
Value with a capital V on Tyler Warren in the 53rd pick, a genuine coup. It fills a real need, too.
Pick61 Rnd2 Omarion Hampton
Somehow Omarion Hampton was still sitting there in pick No. 61, and they pounced on premier running back value. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick62 Rnd2 Kyle Kennard
They paid a round early for Kyle Kennard in Round 2, Pick 30, more than the board wanted. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick64 Rnd2 Deone Walker
By-the-book stuff, Deone Walker at the Round 2 slot squarely in line with his ranking. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick84 Rnd3 Hollin Pierce
Hollin Pierce in pick 84 is a bet on their own eyes over everyone else's grade. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick98 Rnd3 Jake Majors
A clean, defensible pick in Round 3, Pick 34 with a little surplus value in Jake Majors. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick99 Rnd3 Barrett Carter
A slide stopped in the 99th overall pick, with Barrett Carter worth more than the price. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick120 Rnd4 Jaeden Roberts
A real head-scratcher, Jaeden Roberts in pick No. 120 is miles ahead of his ranking. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick148 Rnd5 Kyle McCord
This one needs a full-page explanation: Kyle McCord in the Round 5 slot, miles early. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick164 Rnd5 Samuel Brown
Samuel Brown at pick 164 is a steep price for a hunch, hard to square with any board. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick235 Rnd7 Nicholas Singleton
They will replay Nicholas Singleton at No. 235 for years; that is how good the value is. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
