Draft Grade — Seahawks
Overall B
ValueB NeedB TradesB- FutureB
The Seahawks cashed the board's mistake on Ransom: B.

You build a draft on nights like this. Lathan Ransom had no business being available in the Round 6 slot, and the Seahawks did the only sane thing and turned in the card.

The cost of the Hawes reach is exactly the players who went right after him. If this class has a fault line, it runs straight through linebacker. Edge rusher is handled and the depth chart looks a good deal healthier for it.

A tidy weekend of work that should hold up just fine.

Pick Analysis
Pick24 Rnd1 Kenneth Grant
In pick 24 they get a pocket-collapsing interior rusher. A real need, handled.
Pick50 Rnd2 Bradyn Swinson
A premium they did not need to pay, Bradyn Swinson a notch or two before his time. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick82 Rnd3 Donovan Jackson
Donovan Jackson in the 82nd pick is exactly on the number, no argument either way. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick97 Rnd3 Elijah Arroyo
Elijah Arroyo in the 97th overall pick is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. The roster fit checks out.
Pick121 Rnd4 Jake Majors
A slide stopped in pick No. 121, with Jake Majors worth more than the price. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick137 Rnd4 Tez Johnson
Tez Johnson in the Round 4 slot should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick173 Rnd5 Xavier Scott
Xavier Scott in Round 5, Pick 34 is fine work, a shade of surplus and no downside. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
Pick187 Rnd6 Lathan Ransom
Lathan Ransom in No. 187 is a gift, value that borders on unfair. A minor itch, scratched.
Pick212 Rnd6 Jackson Hawes
They reached a country mile for Jackson Hawes at the 212th pick, and the board is aghast. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick236 Rnd7 Miles Frazier
A market-rate offensive lineman, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Miles Frazier. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
