Draft Grade — Jaguars
Overall B-
ValueB- NeedB+ TradesB- FutureB-
The Jaguars robbed the room for Hartman. Final grade: B-.

When a board-topper like Sam Hartman slides to pick No. 237, you do not overthink it, and the Jaguars did not. Solid and sensible more than spectacular: a B-.

The Eboigbe pick reads as want over need, and the roster will feel it at interior defensive lineman, linebacker and other spots. Reaching for McClellan left real value on the table behind him.

They punted on interior defensive lineman, and it is the miss that keeps the grade honest. The roster is better shaped than it was, with wide receiver chief among the fixes.

Add it up and it is a good, unfussy class.

Pick Analysis
Pick17 Rnd1 Taliese Fuaga
In the Round 1 slot they get a cornerstone up front. The biggest hole, addressed.
Pick48 Rnd2 Ja'Lynn Polk
A straight-up fair deal on Ja'Lynn Polk at pick No. 48, value and slot in agreement. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick79 Rnd3 Cooper Beebe
A market-rate offensive lineman, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Cooper Beebe. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick96 Rnd3 Mike Sainristil
Mike Sainristil slipping to pick 96 is the kind of luck good rooms make for themselves. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick114 Rnd4 Darius Robinson
No drama and no debate, Darius Robinson went about where he belonged in the 114th overall pick. It adds depth where they could use a little.
Pick127 Rnd4 Justin Eboigbe
A surprising call. With interior defensive lineman, linebacker and other spots still to address, they spent Round 4, Pick 27 on Justin Eboigbe, an edge rusher they were not short of.
Pick155 Rnd5 Kamal Hadden
They read the board right and Kamal Hadden was the payoff at the 155th pick. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick164 Rnd5 Kitan Oladapo
They took Kitan Oladapo at par in slot 164, which is nothing to complain about. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick195 Rnd6 Jase McClellan
A real head-scratcher, Jase McClellan in pick No. 195 is miles ahead of his ranking. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick211 Rnd6 Kingsley Eguakun
A premium they did not need to pay, Kingsley Eguakun a notch or two before his time. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick237 Rnd7 Sam Hartman
A top-tier quarterback at a bargain, Sam Hartman in Round 7, Pick 17, plain and simple. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
