Ratledge should have been long gone. The Colts pounced, and earned a B. You build a draft on nights like this. Tate Ratledge had no business being available in No. 150, and the Colts did the only sane thing and turned in the card. It nets out to a B, which feels about right.
Every board in the league had Burks lower, and that gap is the story. The quarterback hole is the one line item this class does not answer.
Wide receiver was the priority and it is no longer a question, which is most of the job. The back end got a real overhaul.
All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but quarterback.
Pick Analysis
Pick14
Rnd1
Will Johnson
In Round 1, Pick 14 they get an island corner. Need was not the driver here.
Pick53
Rnd2
Xavier Watts
Fair-plus on Xavier Watts, a quiet win that adds up over a draft. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
Pick80
Rnd3
Omarion Hampton
Taking Omarion Hampton in pick 80 is close to grand larceny; a running back that good had no business lasting this long. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick84
Rnd3
Harold Fannin Jr.
The board fumbled Harold Fannin Jr. all the way to the Round 3 slot, and they scooped it up. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick115
Rnd4
Darius Alexander
Darius Alexander at No. 115 is a conviction pick that outran the value. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick150
Rnd5
Tate Ratledge
A top-tier offensive lineman at a bargain, Tate Ratledge in the 150th pick, plain and simple. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick187
Rnd6
Jay Higgins
Circle this one: Jay Higgins at slot 187 is a fall that decides a draft. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick232
Rnd7
Deion Burks
Value said wait; Deion Burks in the 232nd overall pick says they were not listening. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
