Draft Grade — Colts
Overall D+
ValueB+ NeedB TradesF FutureD
Jones Jr. should have been long gone. The Colts pounced, and earned a D+.

When a board-topper like Emery Jones Jr. slides to Round 6, Pick 13, you do not overthink it, and the Colts did not. It grades a D+, and the process earned it.

The trades bled value they could not afford to lose. Leaving edge rusher unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall.

They are betting the present roster is worth a lighter draft next spring. The Trey Hendrickson pickup adds a known quantity to a class of unknowns.

Bottom line, they will need several of these picks to beat their grades just to break even, and edge rusher is still a hole.

Pick Analysis
Pick56 Rnd2 Alfred Collins
Alfred Collins at No. 56 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick62 Rnd2 Xavier Watts
Xavier Watts slid further than he should have, and slot 62 is lovely value for the safety. A minor itch, scratched.
Pick80 Rnd3 Elijah Arroyo
They paid sticker price for Elijah Arroyo in Round 3, Pick 16, and that is fine. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick116 Rnd4 Jalen Milroe
The board had Jalen Milroe higher than pick No. 116, and the quarterback fell to them anyway. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick152 Rnd5 Raheim Sanders
No drama and no debate, Raheim Sanders went about where he belonged in the 152nd pick. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick191 Rnd6 Emery Jones Jr.
Emery Jones Jr. in pick 191 is a gift, value that borders on unfair. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick234 Rnd7 Dont'e Thornton Jr.
They will replay Dont'e Thornton Jr. at the Round 7 slot for years; that is how good the value is. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
