Grand theft in Round 7, Pick 18: the Colts steal Rourke and grade out a B-.

The Colts lost the trade war and it was not close, handing partners the better end again and again.

They banked enough surplus on Rourke to cover a lot of smaller sins. Every board in the league had Warren lower, and that gap is the story. That wide receiver hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall.

All told, a draft that does its job without fuss, and there is real value in that.

Pick Analysis
Pick32 Rnd1 Deone Walker
In the 32nd pick they get a disruptive interior force. A clean fit for the roster.
Pick49 Rnd2 Shavon Revel Jr.
Shavon Revel Jr. at slot 49 is a sensible buy, a touch better than market for the cornerback. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
Pick80 Rnd3 Tyler Warren
They reached a country mile for Tyler Warren at the 80th overall pick, and the board is aghast. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick116 Rnd4 Keon Sabb
You do not let a safety like Keon Sabb reach pick No. 116 and blink. They did not. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
Pick152 Rnd5 Donovan Edwards
Donovan Edwards at pick 152 is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick193 Rnd6 Jamon Dumas-Johnson
Jamon Dumas-Johnson at No. 193 is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick232 Rnd7 Kurtis Rourke
Circle this one: Kurtis Rourke at the 232nd overall pick is a fall that decides a draft. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
