The Colts fleeced the room on the phones and earned a B. The trade table was a mismatch, and the Colts were on the right end of it, hauling in a fortune in surplus value. Good, not great, and the B says as much.
They will need Jackson Jr. to outplay his draft slot in a hurry to justify it. For all the activity, quarterback went untouched, which is hard to explain. On value alone, Coleman Jr. makes the weekend a net positive.
All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but quarterback.
Pick Analysis
Pick32
Rnd1
Daylen Everette
Daylen Everette at the 32nd pick is the kind of overdraft that needs everything to break right. It adds depth where they could use a little.
Pick96
Rnd3
Kenyatta Jackson Jr.
Value said wait; Kenyatta Jackson Jr. in slot 96 says they were not listening. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick132
Rnd4
Kevin Coleman Jr.
Kevin Coleman Jr. at No. 132 is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick150
Rnd5
Max Iheanachor
The board had cheaper options than Max Iheanachor at Round 5, Pick 9, and it noticed. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick173
Rnd5
Darius Taylor
Darius Taylor at the Round 5 slot nudges the ledger their way without any fuss. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick217
Rnd6
Raylen Wilson
Raylen Wilson slid further than he should have, and the 217th overall pick is lovely value for the linebacker. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick249
Rnd7
Riley Mahlman
They reached into another round for Riley Mahlman, and the board is nowhere close to agreeing. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick254
Rnd7
Elliot Washington II
Elliot Washington II in pick No. 254 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. It is more luxury than necessity; they were already set here.
