Draft Grade — Colts
Overall B
ValueA- NeedB- TradesC+ FutureB
The Colts won the night they stopped Loveland from sliding. Grade: B.

You build a draft on nights like this. Colston Loveland had no business being available in the Round 5 slot, and the Colts did the only sane thing and turned in the card. Call it a sensible B, earned the boring way.

They will answer for taking safety early while quarterback and edge rusher went begging. If this class has a fault line, it runs straight through quarterback.

In short, they left a little better than they arrived, which is the whole idea.

Pick Analysis
Pick13 Rnd1 Nick Emmanwori
Nick Emmanwori at pick 13 is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
Pick46 Rnd2 Malaki Starks
A curious use of No. 46. Quarterback and edge rusher needed the pick; a safety in Malaki Starks did not.
Pick77 Rnd3 Derrick Harmon
Derrick Harmon at the 77th overall pick is the steal of the weekend, a first-round talent at a bargain-bin price. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick113 Rnd4 Clay Webb
Clay Webb in the Round 4 slot is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick150 Rnd5 Jay Higgins
Jay Higgins at slot 150 is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick152 Rnd5 Colston Loveland
The board fumbled Colston Loveland all the way to Round 5, Pick 14, and they scooped it up. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick189 Rnd6 Tory Horton
Fair-plus on Tory Horton, a quiet win that adds up over a draft. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick227 Rnd7 Raheim Sanders
Circle this one: Raheim Sanders at pick No. 227 is a fall that decides a draft. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
