Larceny in pick No. 231 lands the Colts a B, Sanders and all. The Colts spent the weekend waiting on one name, and it fell: Raheim Sanders, the No. 151 name on the board, in No. 231. It does the job without flash, and the B reflects it.
With wide receiver, quarterback and other spots unsolved, spending premium capital on safety is the choice that costs them. A whole weekend of picks and wide receiver is somehow still a want.
Solid rather than spectacular, and there is nothing wrong with that.
Pick Analysis
Pick15
Rnd1
Nick Emmanwori
In pick No. 15 they get an enforcer at safety. More want than need.
Pick47
Rnd2
Walter Nolen
A top-tier interior defensive lineman at a bargain, Walter Nolen in slot 47, plain and simple. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick79
Rnd3
Harold Fannin Jr.
They barely believed it either: Harold Fannin Jr. still on the board at the 79th pick. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick116
Rnd4
Andrew Mukuba
They zigged when the board said zag, taking Andrew Mukuba at safety with wide receiver, quarterback and other spots open.
Pick152
Rnd5
Smael Mondon Jr.
Smael Mondon Jr. at No. 152 is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick191
Rnd6
Willie Lampkin
They read the board right and Willie Lampkin was the payoff at Round 6, Pick 16. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick231
Rnd7
Raheim Sanders
Raheim Sanders in the Round 7 slot should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
