The Colts cashed the board's mistake on Stutsman: B. Every so often the board makes a mistake, and the Colts were there to profit. Danny Stutsman, the No. 91 name on the board, should have been long gone before the 150th overall pick. Nothing here to lose sleep over; call it a B.
They will regret leaving wide receiver for another day if the season turns on it. The Mukuba pick is fine in a vacuum, less so with wide receiver, quarterback and other spots still on the board.
Good work on the whole, with wide receiver the one box left unchecked.
Pick Analysis
Pick13
Rnd1
Nick Emmanwori
In the 13th pick they get a rangy last line of defense. Need was not the driver here.
Pick46
Rnd2
Tate Ratledge
Tate Ratledge slid further than he should have, and pick No. 46 is lovely value for the offensive lineman. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick83
Rnd3
Tyler Warren
A top-tier tight end at a bargain, Tyler Warren in the 83rd overall pick, plain and simple. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick113
Rnd4
Andrew Mukuba
Of all the spots to shop, they chose safety. Andrew Mukuba in slot 113 leaves wide receiver, quarterback and other spots for later.
Pick120
Rnd4
Deone Walker
No edge and no loss on Deone Walker in Round 4, Pick 19; it is a wash and a sensible one. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick150
Rnd5
Danny Stutsman
Danny Stutsman at pick 150 is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick152
Rnd5
Zane Durant
They paid sticker price for Zane Durant in No. 152, and that is fine. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick189
Rnd6
Raheim Sanders
Raheim Sanders in the Round 6 slot should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick195
Rnd6
Donovan Jackson
Taking Donovan Jackson in No. 195 is close to grand larceny; an offensive lineman that good had no business lasting this long. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick227
Rnd7
Brant Kuithe
The board fumbled Brant Kuithe all the way to slot 227, and they scooped it up. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
