Draft Grade — Colts

FutureB-
The Colts let Edwards fall into their laps, and walked away with a B. You build a draft on nights like this. Donovan Edwards had no business being available in the Round 6 slot, and the Colts did the only sane thing and turned in the card. It does the job without flash, and the B reflects it.
Every board in the league had Johnson lower, and that gap is the story. If this class has a fault line, it runs straight through edge rusher.
Good work on the whole, with edge rusher the one box left unchecked.
Pick Analysis
Pick22
Rnd1
Jahdae Barron
In the 22nd overall pick they get a rangy last line of defense at fair value. Need was not the driver here.
Pick49
Rnd2
Shavon Revel Jr.
Fair-plus on Shavon Revel Jr., a quiet win that adds up over a draft. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
Pick53
Rnd2
Donovan Jackson
Donovan Jackson at Round 2, Pick 21 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick80
Rnd3
Tyler Warren
A real head-scratcher, Tyler Warren in pick No. 80 is miles ahead of his ranking. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick87
Rnd3
Smael Mondon Jr.
Smael Mondon Jr. at the Round 3 slot is a sensible buy, a touch better than market for the linebacker. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick116
Rnd4
Tez Johnson
Tez Johnson in the 116th pick is a reach so steep the board needed a second look to believe it. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick152
Rnd5
Tonka Hemingway
They reached a country mile for Tonka Hemingway at pick 152, and the board is aghast. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick193
Rnd6
Kyle McCord
Kyle McCord at No. 193 is a sound buy, the sort that quietly helps a class. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick199
Rnd6
Donovan Edwards
Donovan Edwards in Round 6, Pick 24 is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick232
Rnd7
Aydan White
No edge and no loss on Aydan White in the Round 7 slot; it is a wash and a sensible one. Nice player, but the depth chart did not need him here.
