Good, not great, for the Colts: B-. When the story of this class is written, it opens with Korey Foreman at pick 249, a reach of 53 spots that the board flatly disagrees with. Nothing here to lose sleep over; call it a B-.
They covered a lot of ground and still skipped quarterback, which is a strange place to end up. On the needs board they went 5 of 8, with wide receiver the one that mattered most.
Nearly every premium pick went to that side of the ball. The phones were busy but the ledger stayed level.
In sum, a sturdy weekend with one asterisk, the quarterback spot they never got to.
Pick Analysis
Pick8
Rnd1
Anthony Hill Jr.
In slot 8 they get a sideline-to-sideline linebacker at fair value.
Pick40
Rnd2
Christen Miller
A straight-up fair deal on Christen Miller at No. 40, value and slot in agreement. The roster fit checks out.
Pick72
Rnd3
Germie Bernard
Germie Bernard in pick 72 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick108
Rnd4
Parker Brailsford
They paid sticker price for Parker Brailsford in pick No. 108, and that is fine. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick163
Rnd5
Jaishawn Barham
They reached into another round for Jaishawn Barham, and the board is nowhere close to agreeing. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick186
Rnd6
Alex Birchmeier
A real head-scratcher, Alex Birchmeier in the 186th pick is miles ahead of his ranking. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick202
Rnd6
Boubacar Traore
Boubacar Traore in pick 202 is a reach so steep the board needed a second look to believe it. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick221
Rnd7
Jalen Catalon
Jalen Catalon at slot 221 is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
Pick247
Rnd7
Jamari Lyons
A swing that ignored the value entirely, Jamari Lyons well ahead of where he belonged. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick249
Rnd7
Korey Foreman
Korey Foreman at the 249th overall pick is the kind of overdraft that needs everything to break right. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
