A masterclass at the trade table lands the Colts a B-. The war room fell hard for Luke Lachey, and it showed at Round 2, Pick 17: 55 picks ahead of a board that had other ideas. Solid and sensible more than spectacular: a B-.
Moore falling to them is the kind of break a good board is built to catch. They robbed the room blind at the table, and it lifts the grade on its own. For all the activity, wide receiver went untouched, which is hard to explain.
All told, a draft that does its job without fuss, and there is real value in that.
Pick Analysis
Pick4
Rnd1
Travis Hunter
In No. 4 they get a ballhawk on the outside. Need was not the driver here.
Pick49
Rnd2
Luke Lachey
Luke Lachey in pick 49 is a bet on their own eyes over everyone else's grade. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick76
Rnd3
TreVeyon Henderson
Somehow TreVeyon Henderson was still sitting there in the 76th overall pick, and they pounced on premier running back value. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick108
Rnd4
Rod Moore
Rod Moore in Round 4, Pick 12 is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. It adds depth where they could use a little.
Pick140
Rnd5
Rylie Mills
They did well to land Rylie Mills in the 140th pick, just ahead of his grade. The roster fit checks out.
Pick172
Rnd6
Jack Nelson
They took Jack Nelson at par in slot 172, which is nothing to complain about. It fills a real need, too.
Pick177
Rnd6
Jaishawn Barham
No drama and no debate, Jaishawn Barham went about where he belonged in the 177th pick. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick204
Rnd7
Thor Griffith
The board screamed and they did not listen, reaching into the next round for Thor Griffith. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
