The Colts cashed the board's mistake on Stutsman: B+. The Colts did not reach, did not trade up, did not blink. They just waited, and Danny Stutsman fell into Round 5, Pick 16. The bottom line is a respectable B+.
Every board in the league had McCord lower, and that gap is the story. The dealing alone would carry a lesser class. The Starks pick reads as want over need, and the roster will feel it at wide receiver, interior defensive lineman and other spots.
A whole weekend of picks and wide receiver is somehow still a want.
Good work on the whole, with wide receiver the one box left unchecked.
Pick Analysis
Pick13
Rnd1
Nick Emmanwori
In No. 13 they get a ballhawk on the back end. More want than need.
Pick48
Rnd2
Tate Ratledge
They barely believed it either: Tate Ratledge still on the board at the 48th pick. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick77
Rnd3
Malaki Starks
A surprising call. With wide receiver, interior defensive lineman and other spots still to address, they spent the Round 3 slot on Malaki Starks, a safety they were not short of.
Pick113
Rnd4
Tyler Warren
Tyler Warren at Round 4, Pick 12 is the steal of the weekend, a first-round talent at a bargain-bin price. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick150
Rnd5
Kyle McCord
This one needs a full-page explanation: Kyle McCord in the 150th overall pick, miles early. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick152
Rnd5
Raheim Sanders
Raheim Sanders in pick 152 should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick154
Rnd5
Danny Stutsman
Danny Stutsman at slot 154 is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick189
Rnd6
Brant Kuithe
Good price on Brant Kuithe in pick No. 189, a hair ahead of his grade with no real quibbles. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick227
Rnd7
Rod Moore
Rod Moore at No. 227 is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. A want dressed up as a pick, at a spot they had covered.
