The Sam Hartman selection is the head-turner. The Colts reached 24 spots for him, and it will define how this weekend is remembered. It does the job without flash, and the B- reflects it.

They will regret leaving running back for another day if the season turns on it. They banked enough surplus on McConkey to cover a lot of smaller sins.

On the needs board they went 5 of 8, with wide receiver the one that mattered most. Nearly every premium pick went to that side of the ball.

Bottom line, more hits than misses and a roster nudged the right way.
