The curious call sets the tone. With quarterback, running back and other spots still glaring, the Colts used slot 117 on Elijah Jones, a cornerback they were not exactly short of. No fireworks, but a solid B.

A whole weekend of picks and quarterback is somehow still a want. They will need Nugent to outplay his draft slot in a hurry to justify it. That is an edge rusher worth more than the slot they spent on him, plainly.

A competent weekend that does not make headlines and does not need to.
