Draft Grade — Colts
Overall
D
ValueC+

TradesF
FutureD
The Colts bled value on every deal, hence the D. The Josh Proctor pick is the one that will follow the Colts into the fall. They took him 34 spots ahead of his grade, and the board is not shy about saying so. A weekend that fought the value and lost, hence the D.
The dealing is the wound this class cannot quite close. They punted on quarterback, and it is the miss that keeps the grade honest.
They are betting the present roster is worth a lighter draft next spring.
The verdict is not kind, and fairly so; this class has a hill to climb.
Pick Analysis
Pick15
Rnd1
Kool-Aid McKinstry
In No. 15 they get a sticky cover corner. More want than need.
Pick18
Rnd1
Keon Coleman
In the 18th pick they get a true top target at fair value. The biggest hole, addressed.
Pick82
Rnd3
Zak Zinter
They went early on Zak Zinter in pick 82, and the value did not follow. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick117
Rnd4
Darius Robinson
A straight-up fair deal on Darius Robinson at the 117th overall pick, value and slot in agreement. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick153
Rnd5
Josh Proctor
They talked themselves into Josh Proctor at Round 5, Pick 17, and the board did not agree. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
Pick193
Rnd6
Christian Jones
By-the-book stuff, Christian Jones at the Round 6 slot squarely in line with his ranking. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick235
Rnd7
Demani Richardson
Demani Richardson at Round 7, Pick 15 is a clear overpay, with better names still on the board. A want more than a need, though you can never have too many.
