Draft Grade — Colts
Overall B-
ValueB- NeedB TradesC FutureB+
More right than wrong for the Colts, and a B- to prove it.

The DeMonte Capehart pick is the one that will follow the Colts into the fall. They took him 72 spots ahead of his grade, and the board is not shy about saying so. They moved the roster forward and banked a B- for it.

Eichenberg falling to them is the kind of break a good board is built to catch. If this class has a fault line, it runs straight through quarterback.

Stockpiling next year's capital is patient, if unglamorous, asset work.

All told, a draft that does its job without fuss, and there is real value in that.

Pick Analysis
Pick17 Rnd1 JC Latham
In the 17th overall pick they get an anchor for the offensive line at fair value. A real need, handled.
Pick46 Rnd2 Xavier Worthy
Xavier Worthy at pick No. 46 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick95 Rnd3 Zak Zinter
They took Zak Zinter at par in slot 95, which is nothing to complain about. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick117 Rnd4 Jaden Hicks
Jaden Hicks in the Round 4 slot is a bargain the rest of the room will envy. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
Pick132 Rnd4 Kamal Hadden
No edge and no loss on Kamal Hadden in No. 132; it is a wash and a sensible one. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
Pick153 Rnd5 Tommy Eichenberg
They will replay Tommy Eichenberg at pick 153 for years; that is how good the value is. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick193 Rnd6 DeMonte Capehart
The board screamed and they did not listen, reaching into the next round for DeMonte Capehart. It fills a real need, too.
Pick195 Rnd6 Omar Speights
They paid sticker price for Omar Speights in the Round 6 slot, and that is fine. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick235 Rnd7 Demani Richardson
A market-rate safety, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Demani Richardson. They added to a strength when a need was still open elsewhere.
