FutureB
Larceny in the Round 2 slot lands the Colts a B, Franklin and all. You build a draft on nights like this. Troy Franklin had no business being available in slot 60, and the Colts did the only sane thing and turned in the card. Nothing here to lose sleep over; call it a B.
They covered a lot of ground and still skipped quarterback, which is a strange place to end up. The Colts indulged a want in Solomon while a need in quarterback, running back and other spots stayed open. Logue has a lot of ground to make up just to look fairly priced.
Solid rather than spectacular, and there is nothing wrong with that.
Pick Analysis
Pick15
Rnd1
Jared Verse
In Round 1, Pick 15 they get a premier pass rusher at fair value.
Pick60
Rnd2
Troy Franklin
Steal is underselling it; Troy Franklin at the Round 2 slot is a heist with the alarm still ringing. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick82
Rnd3
Christian Mahogany
Christian Mahogany at slot 82 is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick99
Rnd3
Javon Solomon
The eyebrow-raiser of the weekend. They went OLB-EDGE with Javon Solomon while clear needs at quarterback, running back and other spots sat open.
Pick117
Rnd4
Jaden Hicks
Jaden Hicks at the 117th overall pick is money in the bank, a safety taken below his worth. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
Pick128
Rnd4
Kris Abrams-Draine
Kris Abrams-Draine in the 128th pick is a bargain the rest of the room will envy. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
Pick153
Rnd5
Theo Johnson
Theo Johnson in pick 153 lands just on the right side of the ledger. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick193
Rnd6
Christian Jones
By-the-book stuff, Christian Jones at No. 193 squarely in line with his ranking. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick235
Rnd7
Zion Logue
They jumped the gun on Zion Logue, taking him earlier than his grade liked. It fills a real need, too.
