Killian DRAFTING FOR THEColts

Draft Grade — Colts

Good, not great, for the Colts: B-. Call it a hunch or call it a gamble, but the Colts spent the Round 5 slot on Josh Proctor, a name most had 30 spots down the list. Good, not great, and the B- says as much.
For all the activity, quarterback went untouched, which is hard to explain. On value alone, Latu makes the weekend a net positive. They went 4 of 8 on their needs, which is most of what a draft is for.
Building through the lines is a philosophy, and they stuck to it.
Nothing here to lose sleep over, and plenty to feel decent about.
Pick Analysis
Pick15
Rnd1
Laiatu Latu
In the 15th pick they get a double-digit-sack hope, and a steal at that. A real need, handled.
Pick46
Rnd2
Devontez Walker
Devontez Walker at the Round 2 slot is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick82
Rnd3
Junior Colson
Fair-plus on Junior Colson, a quiet win that adds up over a draft. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick117
Rnd4
Kris Abrams-Draine
No drama and no debate, Kris Abrams-Draine went about where he belonged in pick No. 117. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
Pick153
Rnd5
Josh Proctor
They reached a country mile for Josh Proctor at slot 153, and the board is aghast. A minor itch, scratched.
Pick193
Rnd6
Christian Jones
Christian Jones at the 193rd overall pick is a sensible buy, a touch better than market for the offensive lineman. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick235
Rnd7
Dylan McMahon
Dylan McMahon at pick 235 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
