Draft Grade — Bengals
Overall

FutureA-
The Bengals let Allen fall and pounced. Final grade: B+. The Bengals spent the weekend waiting on one name, and it fell: LeQuint Allen, the No. 135 name on the board, in No. 193. Solid and sensible more than spectacular: a B+.
Every board in the league had Ezeiruaku lower, and that gap is the story. Every deal seemed to tilt their way, which is not luck.
A whole weekend of picks and linebacker is somehow still a want. The Bengals paired the rookies with proven help, Asante Samuel Jr. leading the way.
A tidy weekend of work that should hold up just fine.
Pick Analysis
Pick37
Rnd2
Donovan Ezeiruaku
They talked themselves into Donovan Ezeiruaku at the 37th pick, and the board did not agree. It adds depth where they could use a little.
Pick81
Rnd3
Marcus Mbow
Marcus Mbow at the Round 3 slot is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick86
Rnd3
Gunnar Helm
By-the-book stuff, Gunnar Helm at pick 86 squarely in line with his ranking. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick108
Rnd4
Dylan Fairchild
A clean, defensible pick in the 108th overall pick with a little surplus value in Dylan Fairchild. The roster fit checks out.
Pick119
Rnd4
Jacob Parrish
Jacob Parrish in pick No. 119 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick157
Rnd5
Pat Bryant
The board had Pat Bryant higher than No. 157, and the wide receiver fell to them anyway. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick193
Rnd6
LeQuint Allen
They will replay LeQuint Allen at Round 6, Pick 17 for years; that is how good the value is. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick213
Rnd6
JJ Pegues
JJ Pegues in slot 213 is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick235
Rnd7
Nazir Stackhouse
You do not let an interior defensive lineman like Nazir Stackhouse reach slot 235 and blink. They did not. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
