Draft Grade — Bengals
Overall B-
ValueC+ NeedB+ TradesB- FutureB-
The Bengals robbed the room for Emmanwori. Final grade: B-.

When a board-topper like Nick Emmanwori slides to the 49th pick, you do not overthink it, and the Bengals did not. Solid and sensible more than spectacular: a B-.

They will need Slater to outplay his draft slot in a hurry to justify it. They covered a lot of ground and still skipped cornerback, which is a strange place to end up.

Interior defensive lineman was the priority and it is no longer a question, which is most of the job.

Good work on the whole, with cornerback the one box left unchecked.

Pick Analysis
Pick17 Rnd1 Derrick Harmon
In Round 1, Pick 17 they get a load in the middle, though they paid up to get him. The biggest hole, addressed.
Pick49 Rnd2 Nick Emmanwori
Steal is underselling it; Nick Emmanwori at No. 49 is a heist with the alarm still ringing. A minor need, but a need all the same.
Pick81 Rnd3 Jared Wilson
A big swing on Jared Wilson at pick 81, well ahead of any board in the building. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick119 Rnd4 Jackson Slater
Jackson Slater in pick No. 119 is a reach so steep the board needed a second look to believe it. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick153 Rnd5 Dont'e Thornton Jr.
A swing that ignored the value entirely, Dont'e Thornton Jr. well ahead of where he belonged. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick193 Rnd6 Jarquez Hunter
Nothing to complain about; Jarquez Hunter went a shade earlier than his grade, which is fine. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
