Draft Grade — Bengals

FutureB-
Skattebo should have been long gone. The Bengals pounced, and earned a B+. Whoever sat across the table from the Bengals should ask for a receipt. They cleaned the room out, prying loose far more value than they gave up, and it was the quiet MVP of their weekend. Solid and sensible more than spectacular: a B+.
Skattebo falling to them is the kind of break a good board is built to catch. Every board in the league had Williams lower, and that gap is the story.
The quarterback spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at. Job largely done: cornerback settled and 7 of 8 of the wish list covered.
Good work on the whole, with quarterback the one box left unchecked.
Pick Analysis
Pick26
Rnd1
Tyler Warren
In pick No. 26 they get a mismatch in the passing game, outstanding value to boot. The biggest hole, addressed.
Pick49
Rnd2
Donovan Ezeiruaku
They paid sticker price for Donovan Ezeiruaku in the 49th pick, and that is fine. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
Pick54
Rnd2
Tyleik Williams
Value with a capital V on Tyleik Williams in Round 2, Pick 22, a genuine coup. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick81
Rnd3
Maxwell Hairston
Maxwell Hairston at pick 81 is the sort of value that quietly wins a weekend. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick90
Rnd3
Dylan Fairchild
Dylan Fairchild at the Round 3 slot jumps the queue by a touch more than is comfortable. The roster fit checks out.
Pick122
Rnd4
Cam Skattebo
Cam Skattebo at slot 122 is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick127
Rnd4
Anthony Belton
Anthony Belton in the 127th overall pick is a bargain the rest of the room will envy. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick153
Rnd5
Kyle Williams
Kyle Williams in the Round 5 slot is a reach so steep the board needed a second look to believe it. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick191
Rnd6
Vernon Broughton
Fair-plus on Vernon Broughton, a quiet win that adds up over a draft. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick193
Rnd6
Nazir Stackhouse
A reach on Nazir Stackhouse in Round 6, Pick 17; the board had better options right there. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick250
Rnd7
Jamon Dumas-Johnson
Jamon Dumas-Johnson slid further than he should have, and No. 250 is lovely value for the linebacker. A need, and now a little less of one.
