Draft Grade — Bengals
Overall

A respectable, level-headed haul for the Bengals: B-. The rest of the league had time to spare on Josh Proctor; the Bengals did not wait, grabbing him 55 spots ahead at the 238th overall pick. More right than wrong, and a B- to match.
They covered a lot of ground and still skipped quarterback, which is a strange place to end up. Landing Nelson that late papers over a lot of smaller sins.
The roster is better shaped than it was, with cornerback chief among the fixes.
All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but quarterback.
Pick Analysis
Pick17
Rnd1
Ja'Tavion Sanders
In No. 17 they get a moveable chess piece at tight end, reach and all. Exactly the need they had to hit.
Pick49
Rnd2
Cooper Beebe
They paid sticker price for Cooper Beebe in pick No. 49, and that is fine. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick81
Rnd3
Michael Hall Jr.
No edge and no loss on Michael Hall Jr. in pick 81; it is a wash and a sensible one. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick117
Rnd4
Jason Marshall Jr.
Jason Marshall Jr. at the Round 4 slot is money in the bank, a cornerback taken below his worth. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick154
Rnd5
Jack Nelson
Nice patience on Jack Nelson, who had no business lasting to the 154th pick. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick173
Rnd5
Jestin Jacobs
A wild overpay on Jestin Jacobs in slot 173, the sort that defines a class for the wrong reasons. The roster fit checks out.
Pick195
Rnd6
Jordan Whittington
Jordan Whittington at pick No. 195 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick238
Rnd7
Josh Proctor
Value said wait; Josh Proctor in the 238th pick says they were not listening. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
Pick254
Rnd7
Jaylen Harrell
A real head-scratcher, Jaylen Harrell in No. 254 is miles ahead of his ranking. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
