Draft Grade — Saints
Overall B-
ValueC NeedB+ TradesB- FutureB-
A solid, sensible weekend for the Saints: B-.

If confidence were a draft strategy, the Saints would have aced it. Jaden Crumedy at No. 175 is 35 spots clear of where he belonged. They moved the roster forward and banked a B- for it.

The quarterback hole is the one line item this class does not answer. The trenches got the money picks, top to bottom.

In short, they left a little better than they arrived, which is the whole idea.

Pick Analysis
Pick14 Rnd1 Amarius Mims
In pick 14 they get a plug-and-play piece up front, even if it was a touch early. Exactly the need they had to hit.
Pick45 Rnd2 Keon Coleman
A straight-up fair deal on Keon Coleman at the Round 2 slot, value and slot in agreement. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick150 Rnd5 Myles Cole
Myles Cole at No. 150 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick168 Rnd5 Decamerion Richardson
They paid sticker price for Decamerion Richardson in Round 5, Pick 32, and that is fine. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick170 Rnd5 Javion Cohen
This one needs a full-page explanation: Javion Cohen in slot 170, miles early. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick175 Rnd5 Jaden Crumedy
Jaden Crumedy in the 175th overall pick is a bet on their own eyes over everyone else's grade. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick190 Rnd6 Tyrice Knight
The board screamed and they did not listen, reaching into the next round for Tyrice Knight. A minor need, but a need all the same.
Pick239 Rnd7 Carson Steele
No drama and no debate, Carson Steele went about where he belonged in pick 239. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick241 Rnd7 Brevyn Spann-Ford
Brevyn Spann-Ford at the 241st pick is the kind of overdraft that needs everything to break right. A need, and now a little less of one.
