Draft Grade — Saints
Overall A
ValueB+ NeedB TradesA+ FutureA+
Grand theft in Round 2, Pick 10: the Saints steal Coleman and grade out a A.

The trade table was a mismatch, and the Saints were on the right end of it, hauling in a fortune in surplus value.

The Coleman steal is the beam this whole class leans on. The interior defensive lineman hole is the one line item this class does not answer.

The Saints paired the rookies with proven help, D.J. Reed leading the way. The hoard sets up next April more than it helps this September.

Add it up and this is about as clean as a draft weekend gets.

Pick Analysis
Pick20 Rnd1 Matayo Uiagalelei
In the 20th pick they get a premier pass rusher at a price that makes it sweeter. The biggest hole, addressed.
Pick42 Rnd2 Cam Coleman
Somehow Cam Coleman was still sitting there in No. 42, and they pounced on premier wide receiver value. It adds depth where they could use a little.
Pick73 Rnd3 Jamari Sharpe
Good price on Jamari Sharpe in pick No. 73, a hair ahead of his grade with no real quibbles. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick132 Rnd4 J'Koby Williams
Good things come to war rooms that wait, and J'Koby Williams at the Round 4 slot is the proof. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
Pick136 Rnd4 LaNorris Sellers
A tidy bit of business in pick 136, where LaNorris Sellers graded well above the range. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
Pick148 Rnd5 Blake Frazier
A tidy little value on Blake Frazier in the 148th overall pick, a step better than break-even. The roster fit checks out.
Pick150 Rnd5 Drew Bobo
They took Drew Bobo at par in the 150th pick, which is nothing to complain about. It fills a real need, too.
Pick170 Rnd5 Lawson Luckie
Lawson Luckie at slot 170 is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. Nice player, but the depth chart did not need him here.
Pick188 Rnd6 Jake Guarnera
A clean, defensible pick in the Round 6 slot with a little surplus value in Jake Guarnera. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
